Permeability Prediction Model Modified on Kozeny-Carman for Building Foundation of Clay Soil

Clay soil is a common building foundation material, and its permeability very important for the safety of pits later settlement buildings. However, traditional Kozeny-Carman (K-C) equation shows serious discrepancies when predicting clay in treatment. Therefore, solving application K-C problem faced by engineers scholars. In this paper, influence mineralogy on pore structure analyzed, then effective e (eeff) SSA (Seff) are proposed. Based eeff Seff, prediction model modified built. Then, seepage experiments conducted two types samples to test model; at same time, MIP combining freeze-drying methods used obtain Seff eeff. Through discussion results, three main conclusions obtained: (1) there invalid pores due mineral, reason which unsuitable clay; (2) can reflect structural state during seepage; (3) results paper agree well with indicates that applicable clay. The research significant solve academic not ensure areas.
